Business communication: an introduction.
Exercise 1
1 How do you define communication?
Communication is to me the ability to express to others anything by any
way or form like talking, writing, or even using you body. All of this with the
purpose to let others know how you feel, what you think, etc.
2. What is the role of communication in
management of business?
It plays the most important role because if there is not communication
(or it is bad) there is nothing. It is impossible to run a company rightly when
there is lack of information and misunderstands.
3. What are the different purposes of
communication? Briefly explain any five of them.
-
Instruction:
let others know what you want them to do.
-
Integration:
create relationships to achieve goals.
-
Evaluation:
this allows to know the worth of tasks.
-
Teaching:
this avoids accidents and risks which means saving money.
-
Image
building: having a good image in society is important so the best way to do it
is by informing the enterprise goal, activities, progress, etc.
4. Discuss the different situations when
the communication exists.
-
When
someone has the intention to share any message.
-
When
someone receives any message.
-
When
the receiver understands the information.
-
When
there is feedback.
5. “Communication is an exchange of
facts, ideas, opinions and emotions by two or more persons”. Explain the
statement and discuss the role of feedback in communication.
I guess it means you can express anything you think, feel, etc. but to
really create a communicative process it is necessary someone or something to
receive the information you are sending because if there is no one else you are
just expressing yourself but no communicating, so the point of communication is
sharing with someone. That is why feedback is important due to it allows either
the receiver to ask for more information to clarify the message and let the
sender know if the message sent was clear.
6. “Communication is the two-way
process” Explain.
As I said, I think it is necessary at least two parts to create a real communication
process, there must be a sender and a receiver that can change roles to make it
more effective.
7. Discuss the elements of
communication process.
-
Sender:
the one who start the process.
-
Message:
is what the sender wants to share.
-
Encoding:
the way how the message is sent.
-
Channel:
the link between the sender and receiver.
-
Receiver:
the person who gets the message.
-
Decoding:
is the interpretation they receiver gives to the message.
-
Feedback:
the reaction of the receiver.
-
Brain
drain: this happens when the message is lost by reasons like misunderstanding,
lack of ability to express the idea, etc.
8. Give three examples of brain drain
in communication process.
-
When
the communicator rambles so the receiver can not get the main idea.
-
When
there is no organization in the message, so it turns difficult to decode it.
-
When
the words chosen are not the right ones to be clear (like using very technical terms).
Hello Ferchis, I share with you the idea of question 5. We can express what we want and how we want but someone will always be needed to resonate the message.
ReplyDeleteHello fer, I think the same as you in question 6, because it is essential that there are two parts in a communication, so that the message can be understood.
ReplyDeleteHello Fer, your work is very complete, we have very similar answers, I think that what you mention in question 5 is very important and complete, I am very clear.
ReplyDeleteHello Fer, In your answer 2 I have the same idea, in my opinion, it is the most important point to have any type of relationship (work, emotional etc). Without this, the communication and the message that you want to give does not reach its destination.
ReplyDeleteHello Fer, your answer in question 5 caught my attention since I compare a very similar opinion in addition to all the other questions, your answers are very interesting.
ReplyDeleteHi Fer, I think you did a good job making this assignment, we share the same ideas, I like the way you precisely describe the elements in question 7.
